Planning your wedding can be simultaneously the most exciting, and the most daunting, thing a couple can do. So many decisions to be made, all culminating to create the perfect day for you and your guests to remember forever- but where do you start when it comes to flowers? Colourful flowers can be invaluable to bringing your wedding to life, so here’s our guide on what to do when you can’t decide what to do!

Where do I begin with my florals?

Align to your vision: what speaks to you?

Your big day is your opportunity to truly express your most authentic selves, showing off what makes you, you! The sky is the limit in terms of what your day looks like- whether it’s a boho, country music vibe, a multicoloured rainbow wonderland or a whimsical, wild country vision nothing is off the table!

Find inspiration in the little things

Inspiration for your colours and your florals can come from literally anywhere! A picture, a piece of clothing- we’ve even been send inspiration from mugs and buildings before! Just because your inspiration isn’t specifically flowers doesn’t mean it can’t be translated to create a floral vision.

Bold is beautiful

If you’re into bold colours, then go for it! If you’re into bold style and want something to take your guests’ breath away, then go for it! Picking what’s truly representative of you is the best feeling, and that will translate into helping you have the most you wedding!

No wrong answers

There are no wrong answers, and there are no stupid questions. There are loads of resources online, from forums to social media, and (odds are) if it’s something you don’t know it’s something someone else has asked before!

Not everything has to match!

Our hot take: weddings are better when everything isn’t the same. Using different accent colours for different things works really well- from different bouquets for each bridesmaid through to each table having its own colour theme!

Find a floral designer who gets you!

Finding a floral designer whose style and vibe you love is so important. Ideally 12-18 months before the big day, start thinking about your overall aesthetic. Is your vibe bold, country garden? or sleek and structural? There’s a floral designer out there for you who will be on the same bandwidth! We recommend using socials (Instagram and TikTok) and wedding fayres/listings, to get a view of different work and who you want to talk to!

Use focus areas to maximise your budget

Sad but true: wedding flowers can be expensive. From materials to staffing to hardware it’s easy for costs vs. vision to fall out of sync! For maximum impact we always recommend using a feature piece that can be reused during the day- we’re talking ground level floral meadows for top table decoration, aisle ends for centrepieces, ceremony signing tables to bar arrangements and mantelpieces- the list goes on! Having a focus of your flowers will be much more eye catching, and photograph amazingly, rather than little bits dotted around the venue.

Be open to the weird and wonderful!

Tools like Instagram, TikTok and Pinterest can be great sources of inspiration- but it’s worth thinking outside the box! Using different shapes and textures will give your florals even more wow factor! Why not tie in your theme with non floral bits? Think discoballs, vinyl records, things that are in line with your hobbies- anything goes!

If you have a focal flower make that the base of your concept

Whether its personal faves to sentimental blooms, your big day is your big chance to have what you want! Think big and bold sunflowers, showstopper garden roses and crowd pleasing peonies- and them use them as the centre of your designs!

Focus on seasonality

Seasonality is the name of the game with wedding florals, both for quality and value. Good news is that every season has its winners! We recommend tulips and peonies for spring into summer, hydrangeas and dahlias for summer into autumn, hellebores and ranunculus for winter into spring.

Not sure of your vibe? Our favourite floral trends!

Monochrome, different tone

Using different tones and textures of the same colour creates a more exciting, luxe design for your florals. Want an all pink wedding? Use tones from blush through to cerise- our faves include Pink Floyd roses, Rio hydrangeas, Salmon Saucer peonies and Farao anuthurium!

Light and Texture for days!

Butter yellow has dominated 2025 floral palettes, using a mix of similar toned blooms in different shapes and sizes really brings something special, for understated luxe for those steering away from those vibrant shades.

Spectacular structure

Long stems, negative space and statement blooms are going to be a big trend going forwards. The era of the symmetrical ball of roses is going the way of the dodo, with greater focus on highlighting floral art rather than cookie cutter designs!

Wedding clashers

Think outside the box for the non traditional feel. Our faves include peach and blackberry, and red and purple!

Multicolour magic

Think every colour in moderation, all mixed up like a bag of pick n mix. Perfect for a those with a love of the wild and whimsical!
